표범(豹, 학명: Panthera pardus, 영어: leopard)은 현존하는 다섯 종의 표범속 (Panthera) 고양이과 동물 중 하나다. 털은 옅은 노란색에서 짙은 황금색까지 다양하며, 장미꽃 모양 으로 모여 있는 검은 점무늬가 특징이다. 몸은 늘씬하면서도 근육질이며, 몸 길이는 92~183 cm, 꼬리 길이는 66~102 cm, 어깨 높이는 60~70 cm다. 수컷의 몸 무게는 보통 30.9~72 kg이고, 암컷은 20.5~ 43 kg이다. 표범은 1758년에 처음 학술적으로 기재되었으며, 19세기와 20세기에 걸쳐 여러 아종이 제안되었다. 오늘날에는 아프리카와 아시아를 걸친 넓은 서식지에서 8종의 표범 아종이 인정되고 있다. 표범은 플라이스토세 초기 아프리카에사 진화했으며, 플라이스토세 중기로 넘어가는 과도기에 유라시아로 이동했다. 표범은 과거 유럽 전역에 서식했으나, 플라이스토세 후기 말에서 홀로세 초기 무렵에 멸종되었다. 표범은 열대우림에서 스텝에 이르기까지 건조대와 산악 지대를 포함한 다양한 서식지에 적응하여 살고 있다. 기회주의적인 포식자로, 주로 유제류와 영장류를 사냥한다. 점무늬를 위장 수단으로 활용해 먹이에게 몰래 접근해서 매복 공격을 하며, 잡은 먹이를 나무 위로 끌어올리기도 한다. 번식기와 새끼를 기르는 시기를 제외하고는 주로 단독 생활을 한다. 암컷은 보통 15~24개월에 한 번씩 2~4마리의 새끼를 낳고, 암수 모두 보통 2~2.5살에 성적으로 성숙한다. 표범은 IUCN 적색 목록에서 취약종으로 분류되고 있으며, 서식지파괴와 서식지 단편화로 인해 전세계적으로 개체 수가 감소하고 있는 추세다. 표범은 고대 그리스, 서아프리카, 그리고 현대 서구 문화에서 중요한 역할을 해왔으며, 표범 가죽은 패션에서 인기가 높은 것으로 간주된다. 과거 한반도에선 호랑이와 함께 '범'으로 칭해졌으며, 민화에 자주 그려지기도 했다.
