🦌Barasingha
바라싱가 또는 늪사슴(barasingha, Rucervus duvaucelii)은 인도 아대륙에 분포하는 사슴의 일종이다. 인도 북부와 중부 지역에 개체군이 파편적으로 존재하며, 네팔 남서부 지역에서도 2곳의 개체군이 있다. 파키스탄과 방글라데시에서는 멸종 상태이다. 천적으로는 호랑이, 표범, 승냥이, 악어 등이 있으며 바라싱가속(Rucervus)의 유일종이다. 학명은 프랑스 박물학자 두바우셀(Alfred Duvaucel)의 이름에서 유래했다. 늪사슴은 다른 인도 사슴 종들과는 달리 가지뿔에 3개 이상의 가지가 나뉘어 자란다. 바라싱가라는 의미도 "12개 가지"라는 뜻이다. 성숙한 수사슴은 10~14개의 가지로 나뉘며, 일부는 20개에 달하기는 것으로 알려져 있다. 아삼어로 바라싱가를 "돌호리나"(dolhorina)라고 부르며, "돌"(dol)은 "늪"을 의미한다.
