물왕도마뱀(Water monitor)은 흔히 아시아물왕도마뱀(Asian water monitor)이라고도 불리며, 남아시아와 동남아시아에 서식하는 대형 왕도마뱀과 도마뱀이다. 일반적으로 코모도왕도마뱀 다음으로 두 번째로 큰 도마뱀 종으로 여겨진다. 이 종은 인도 동부 및 북동부와 방글라데시, 안다만 니코바르 제도, 스리랑카에서부터 동쪽으로 중국 남부와 하이난섬을 거쳐 동남아시아 본토와 수마트라섬, 보르네오섬, 자와섬, 롬복섬, 리아우 제도, 술라웨시섬까지 분포한다. 이는 가장 널리 분포하는 왕도마뱀류 중 하나이다. 물왕도마뱀은 물과의 자연스러운 친화성을 가지며, 호수, 강, 연못, 늪, 그리고 하수도, 도시 공원, 도시 수로를 포함한 다양한 수변 서식지 주변에서 서식한다. 뛰어난 수영 능력을 가지고 있으며 물고기, 개구리, 무척추동물, 물새, 그리고 기타 수생 및 양서성 먹이를 사냥한다. 겉보기에 개체수가 크고 안정적인 것으로 보이기 때문에, 현재 IUCN 적색 목록에서 최소관심종 등급으로 분류되어 있다.
