🐾Aardwolf
땅늑대(학명: Proteles cristatus)또는 아드울프(Aardwolf)는 식육목 하이에나과에 속하는 동물로, 식육목으로서는 드물게 식충동물의 생태를 보이는 동물이다. 영명인 아드울프는 아프리칸스어 및 네덜란드어로 땅(aard)과 늑대(wolf)를 합친 낱말이다. 생태계에서 포식자로서의 역할을 하는 여타 식육목 동물과 달리 대형 동물을 사냥하는 습성은 없고, 곤충과 그 애벌레만 먹는 충식성 동물이다. 먹이로서 선호하는 벌레는 대개 흰개미 종류로, 땅늑대 1마리가 하룻밤 사이에 먹는 흰개미 마릿수는 약 300,000마리에 달한다. 먹이를 먹을 때는 길고 끈적끈적한 혀를 뻗어 훑어먹으며, 혀는 흰개미가 턱으로 물어도 견딜 수 있도록 억세게 발달했다. 아프리카 동부와 남부의 관목지를 거처로 삼으며 가족 단위로 생활한다. 야행성 동물으로, 낮 동안에는 토굴을 파서 휴식하고 어스름이 되면 나와서 활동을 개시한다.
