🦭Hooded seal
Balonlu fok (Cystophora cristata), Phocidae (fokgiller) familyasından, Kuzey Atlantik'te yaşayan bir fok türü. Boz ve benekli bir deriye sahiptir. 3 m uzunluğa ve 400 kg ağırlığa ulaşabilirler. Bilimsel adı “kese taşıyan” anlamına gelen balonlu foklar, tehlike hissettiklerinde ve erkek foklar dişileri etkilemek için balonunu şişirir. Bu balon ayrıca onlara su altında da soluk konusunda yardımcı olur. Çiftler halinde yaşayan foklar genellikle mart ve nisan aylarında doğum yaparlar. Doğan yavruların güzel görünümlü mavi kürkü, avcıların dikkatini çeker.
