Helix pomatia Linnaeus, 1758

Helix pomatia, "Roman salyangozu", "Burgonya salyangozu" gibi isimlerle bilinen, Avrupa'ya özgü, büyük, hava soluyan Stylommatophora takımından bir kara salyangozu türüdür. Kahverengi yuvarlak kabuğu ile tanınır. Yenilebilir salyangoz türlerindendir. Avrupa kara salyangozlarının en büyük olanıdır. Yaz sonunda toprakta yaklaşık 6 mm büyüklüğündeki 60-80 kadar yumurtayı 7–8 cm derine bırakır. Bu yumurtalardan ise bir ay sonra yavruları çıkar. Roman salyangozunun eti özellikle Fransa'da aranan bir türdür.
