Rhinopithecus roxellana (A.Milne-Edwards, 1870)

Rhinopithecus roxellana Rhinopithecus cinsine bağlı bir hayvan türüdür. Çin'in dağ ormanlarında sarp kayalıklarında yaşar. 55-58 santimetre uzunluğuna ek olarak 60 santimetrelik de bir kuyruğu vardır. Dişisi, erkeğinden daha küçüktür. Kışın 60-70 bireylik bir sürüyle ormanlarda dağlarda yiyecek yemek ararlar. Özellikle besinlerin bol olduğu yazın sürünün sayısının 300'e kadar ulaştığı olur. Bölgede 1000 yıldır uzun tüyleri nedeniyle avlanan bu maymunların kürkleri kürklü giysilerin yapımında kullanılmaktadır. Günümüzde de yaşam alanının giderek azalması nedeniyle büyük bir tehlikeyle karşılaşmış olmakla birlikte şimdi koruma altındadır. Bulunduğu ortamı dışında, özgürlüğüne düşkün olduğu için Hayvanat bahçesi'nde çok uzun zaman yaşayamayan türün dünya'da 3000-4000 kadar örneği kalmıştır. Şimdi Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti tarafından Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Hubei yime Kinling dağlarında koruma altına alınmıştır.
