🐍Bothrops asper
Bothrops asper Orta Amerika'da ve Güney Amerika'nın kuzeyinde bulunan zehirli bir Yeni Dünya engereği türüdür. B. asper iki metreden daha fazla uzunluğa ulaşabilir, oldukça hızlıdır, çok kolay heyecanlanır ve son derece zehirlidir. Bu yılanlar düşük rakımlı bölgelerde çoğunlukla insanların yaşadığı yerlerde geniş ölçüde yayılmışlardır ve yaşadığı bölgelerdeki yılan ısırığı vakalarının temel sorumlusudur. Isırıktan sonra hayatta kalanların büyük çoğunluğu da nekroz sonucu organ kaybına maruz kalır. Türün şu ana kadar herhangi bir alttürü tanımlanmamıştır.
