🐃Domestic yak
Evcil yak (Bos grunniens) uzun kıllı olan evcil hayvanlar arasındadır ve Himalaya bölgesi boyunca yani Hindistan Yarımadası'nda, Tibet Platosu, Kuzey Myanmar, Yunnan, Siçuan ve bilindiği kadarıyla daha kuzey bölgeler olan Moğolistan ve Sibirya'da yaşamaktadır. Yabani yak (Bos mutus) soyundan gelir. Tibetçede yak kelimesi sadece türün erkeğini tanımlamakta kullanılır, dişiler nak veya dri olarak adlandırılır. Buna rağmen birçok dilde yak iki cinsiyet için kullanılmaktadır.
