Micropterus salmoides (Lacepède, 1802)

A pisztrángsügér (Micropterus salmoides) a sugarasúszójú halak (Actinopterygii) osztályának sügéralakúak (Perciformes) rendjébe, ezen belül a díszsügérfélék (Centrarchidae) családjába tartozó faj. Magyarországon gazdasági jelentősége nincs, bár kitűnő sporthal és a húsa is ízletes. A horgászok körében több köznyelvi elnevezése is használt, mint például az amerikai pisztrángsügér, a nagyszájú sügér és a fekete sügér. A fekete sügér (Micropterus dolomieu) elnevezéssel célszerű vigyázni, mert külön halfajt takar.
