🐇Arctic hare
ארנבת הקוטב (שם מדעי: Lepus arcticus) היא מין של ארנבת, שתפוצתה באזורים קרים. ארנבת הקוטב אוגרת שומן רק בקיץ, ושורדת בתנאי הקור בעזרת שכבה עבה של פרווה. לרוב היא אף חופרת מאורות מתחת לאדמה או מתחת לשלג, שם היא שומרת על חומה וישנה. ארנבת הקוטב נראית כמו ארנב, אך אוזניה קצרות יותר, עמידתה זקופה יותר והיא יכולה לחיות בתנאי קור שלא כמו ארנבים. לעיתים הארנבות נעות בעדר, שיכול למנות כמה עשרות פרטים או יותר, אך לרוב הן חיות בגפן, לעיתים יחד עם שותף אחד או יותר. ארנבת הקוטב יכולה לרוץ במהירות של עד 64 קמ"ש. טורפיה כוללים את הזאב הארקטי, שועל השלג וההרמין.
