Szarańcza pustynna (Schistocerca gregaria) – gatunek owada prostoskrzydłego z rodziny szarańczowatych (Acrididae), zdolny do wytwarzania fazy stadnej, groźny szkodnik upraw, szczególnie we wschodniej Afryce i Indiach. Jest polifagiem. Został opisany naukowo z Egiptu. Od szarańczy wędrownej różni się obecnością wyrostka na przedtułowiu.
