🐭Laotian rock rat
חולדת לאוס (שם מדעי: Laonastes aenigmamus) היא מין של מכרסם דמוי חולדה מתת-סדרת דמויי קביה והיא המין היחיד ששרד ממשפחת חולדות לאוס (Diatomyidae). מכרסם זה נמצא בשנת 2005 במדינת לאוס שבדרום-מזרח אסיה. אף על פי שמין זה מכונה "חולדה", הוא קרוב בעצם למשפחות האפריקניות שבתת-סדרת דמויי קביה, כמו הגונדיים, הדרבניים ולעוד משפחות נכחדות. החולדה מגיע לאורך 26 ס"מ ולמשקל 400 גרם ובעל פרווה עבה אפורה-כהה, גוף עגלגל וזנב כמו של סנאי. החולדה בעלת חוטם וזיפי שפם ארוכים, העיניים גדולות והאוזניים קטנות ומשוקעות בגולגולת. יש לה מבנה לסתות השונה משאר בני תת-סדרתה. היא חיה בצוקים ואבני גיר בלאוס ורק לעיתים נדירות נמצאת באזורים פתוחים. תזונתה העיקרית היא עלים, זרעים ועשבים ופחות מחרקים.
