דרקון קומודו (שם מדעי: Varanus Komodoensis), הידוע גם בשם כוח ענק, הוא לטאה מסוג כוח. זוהי הלטאה הגדולה ביותר החיה בימינו, וככל הידוע השנייה בגודלה ששכנה ביבשה אי פעם. תפוצתו מוגבלת לאיי קומודו שבאינדונזיה. בשל היותו טורף-העל היחיד באיי קומודו הוא התפתח לממדי ענק יחסית ללטאות כוח אחרות. דרקוני קומודו צדים ואורבים לטרף, כולל חסרי חוליות, ציפורים ויונקים. בנוסף, הם אוכלים פגרים. מאובני הכוח הענק נתגלו באוסטרליה ומיוחסים לתקופה של לפני יותר מ-3.8 מיליוני שנים. הכוח הענק חי באוסטרליה גם לאחר שבני מינו הגיעו לאינדונזיה, לפני תשע מאות אלף שנה. המאובנים שנתגלו באי פלורס צעירים יותר מהמאובנים שנתגלו באוסטרליה. הבאתם של דרקוני קומודו למערב בשנת 1926 היוותה השראה לסרט "קינג קונג" משנת 1933. דרקון קומודו מצוי בסכנת הכחדה – נותרו רק כמה אלפי פרטים בטבע, וננקטים צעדים לשימורו. החוק האינדונזי מגן על הדרקון, וב-1980 נוסד הפארק הלאומי קומודו כדי לסייע לצעדי השימור.

MEASURED in vivo, highest of 200 bite peaks across 10 captive animals of 25-75 kg, contact anterior on the tooth row. Strikingly weak for the body size -- the paper's point is that the animal supplements a poor bite with a 336 N ventrocaudal pull. Finite-element modelling of one individual gives 39 N at optimal gape, which the authors treat as concordant. Ignore the 696 N figure scaled from alligators; the same paper rejects it.
