🐍Green anaconda
אנקונדה כהה (שם מדעי: Eunectes murinus), הידועה גם בשמות: אנקונדה ירוקה, אנקונדה נפוצה ובואה מים, היא מין של נחש חנק ממשפחת החנקיים הנפוץ באזורים הטרופיים של אמריקה הדרומית. זהו מין הנחש הכבד ביותר והארוך ביותר (ביחד עם פיתון מרושת) בעולם כיום, ונחשב כטורף-על לאורך הביצות הגדולות או ביערות האמזונאס. השם המדעי של האנקונדה הירוקה נלקח מהמילה היוונית εὐνήκτης – אֶוְניקטיס, שפירושה "שחיין טוב", ומהמילה הלטינית Murinus, שפירושה "של עכברים" כי נחש זה נחשב לטורף עכברים. השם הראשון (שהתייחס לפיתון מרושת) היה כנראה מן השפה הסינהלית של סרי לנקה, לשעבר ציילון: בשנת 1869, האנגלי ג'ון ריי כתב על "האנקנדיה של הציילון", שמחץ את איברי התאו ואת העול. יותר ממאה שנים חל השם אנקונדה על הפיתון, אבל במאה התשע־עשרה מומחים החלו להשתמש בשם זה על מנת לתאר את הנחש החי באגן האמזונאס.
