🐃Giant eland
אילנד ענק (שם מדעי: Taurotragus derbianus), הידוע גם כאילנד לורד דרבי או כקאנה ענקית, הוא מין פרסתן מעלה גרה גדול החי באפריקה. האילנד הענק מסווג בתת-משפחת הפרים בשבט סלילני הקרניים ובסוג אילנד, והוא תואר לראשונה בשנת 1847 על ידי ג'ון אדוארד גריי. האילנד הענק הוא מין האנטילופה הגדולה בעולם, ואחת מהאנטילופות הפופולריות ביותר בקרב ציידים-חובבנים. כיתר הפריים, האילנד הענק צמחוני וניזון מעשבים, עלים וענפים. בניגוד לאנטילופות אחרות, אילנדים אלה חיים בעדרים קטנים בהיקף של 15–25 פרטים ומורכבים בעיקר מנקבות, בעוד שזכרים נוטים לחיות בגפם. האילנדים הענקיים אינם טריטוריאליים, והם מבלים את מרבית זמנם בשטחים קבועים. הם בעלי חיים ערניים וזהירים, מה שמקשה להתקרב ולהתבונן בהם. הם יכולים לרוץ במהירות של עד 70 ק"מ לשעה ולהשתמש במהירות זו כהגנה מפני טורפים. הרבייה מתרחשת כל שנה אך בעיקר בעונת הגשמים. הם מאכלסים בעיקר סוואנות רחבות עלים, יערות וקרחות יער. אנטילופות אלה נפוצים באופן ודאי במדינות: קמרון, הרפובליקה המרכז אפריקאית, צ'אד, הרפובליקה הדמוקרטית של קונגו, גינאה, מאלי, סנגל, ודרום סודאן, ובעלי נוכחות מוטלת בספק בניגריה, גינאה ביסאו ואוגנדה. הם נכחדו בוודאות מגמביה, גאנה, חוף השנהב וטוגו. תת-המינים רשומים בסטטוסי שימור שונים על ידי IUCN.
