🐿️Eastern gray squirrel
סנאי אפור או סנאי אמריקני (שם מדעי: Sciurus carolinensis) הוא מין של סנאי ממשפחת הסנאיים החי ביערות באמריקה הצפונית. הסנאי האפור נפוץ ביערות בארצות הברית וגם במזרח קנדה, מניו ברנזוויק ועד מניטובה וצפון טקסס. הוא הועבר על ידי האדם גם לאירופה ואפריקה. אורך גופו 23–30 ס"מ בממוצע, ומשקלו 400–600 גרם. הוא ניזון מקליפות עצים, ניצנים, פירות יער, זרעים ואיצטרובלים שונים, אגוזי מלך ושאר אגוזים, פטריות וירקות מגידול אנושי. לפעמים אף יצוד חרקים וחיות קטנות נוספות (כולל עופות קטנים) ואף יאכל פגרים.
