🐦Demoiselle crane
עגור חן (שם מדעי: Grus virgo) הוא מין עוף ממשפחת העגוריים הנפוץ במרכז אסיה, מהים השחור למונגוליה ולצפון-מזרח סין. בטורקיה קיימת אוכלוסייה קטנה. האוכלוסייה במזרח אירואסיה נודדת בחורף לאפריקה, והאוכלוסייה הסינית והמונגולית נודדת גם היא בחורף, להודו. בישראל עגור חן הוא חולף נדיר. זהו המין הקטן ביותר במשפחת העגוריים. אורכו 85–100 ס"מ ומוטת כנפיו 155–180 ס"מ. משקלו 2-3 ק"ג. לעגור זה יש ציצות אוזן לבנות, צוואר וחזה שחורים. הוא דומה במראהו לעגור אפור. קריאתו של עגור חן דומה לחצרור, והיא גבוהה יותר מזו של עגור אפור. מין זה חי במגוון רחב של סביבות מחיה, כמו מדבריות או סוגים שונים של אדמות מרעה. עגור חן ידוע כמין שעושה את אחת הנדידות הקשות ביותר בעולם העופות. במהלך אוגוסט ובתחילת ספטמבר, העגורים מתקבצים ללהקות שעשויות לכלול כ-400 פרטים, ומתכוננים לעוף אל אזורי החריפה שלהם. במהלך הנדידה, העגורים מתרוממים לגבהים של כ-4,875-7,925 מעל גובה פני הים. האוכלוסייה הסינית והמונגולית עוברת בנדידתה מעל רכס ההימלאיה בתנאים קשים ביותר. עגורי חן רבים מתים במהלך הנדידה בגלל תשישות, רעב וטריפה על ידי עיטים זהובים.
