🐟Cookiecutter shark

Isistius brasiliensis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824)

כריש סיגר המכונה גם כְּרִישְׁאוֹר (שם מדעי: Isistius brasiliensis) הוא מין של דג סחוס קטן ממשפחת כרישי עפיפון (Dalatiidae) שבסדרת הקוצנאים. הוא מצוי באוקיינוסים הפתוחים הרחק מהיבשה ונודד ברחבי האוקיינוסים בחיפוש אחרי מזון. אורך כריש זה עד 42 ס"מ בזכרים ועד 56 ס"מ בנקבות הגדולות יותר. הוא בעל מבנה דק ומוארך, המזכיר סיגריה ונתן לכריש את שמו. הראש עגלגל בעל עיניים גדולות ובעיקר בעל לסתות גדולות עם 32 שיניים ארוכות וחדות הפעורות לרווחה. הכריש בעל זימים קטנים והוא יכול לעצור את שחייתו. הכריש חי בים הפתוח בכל האוקיינוסים הטרופיים והסובטרופיים אך בעיקר הרחק מהחופים. הוא מגיע צפונה עד אלסקה ודרומה עד ניו זילנד. מין זה ניזון מדיונונים, שטרגליים ודגי תהומות שונים החיים במצולות (חלקם דומים לו בגודלם), שאותם הוא תופס באמצעות יניקה מהירה של המים סביבו. בנוסף הוא ניזון מבשר של יצורי ים שונים, על ידי נשיכה של בשרם וחיתוך האזור על ידי הסתובבות ושיסוע של הבשר. התנהגות טפילית זו מבוצעת על שוכני ים רבים: לווייתנים שונים (בעיקר לווייתני מקור החיים בעומקים וגם דולפינים, ראשתננים ולווייתני מזיפות), טורפים ימיים (אריות ים, פילי ים וכלבי ים נמריים), תחש המשכן, דמויי-כריש, בטאים, כימראים, דגי גרם שונים. חלק מהמינים הפונדקאים (בעיקר דגי גרם וכרישים) מתים מהזיהומים של הפציעות שעומקן עד שבעה ס"מ. אחרים – בעיקר הלווייתנים שוכני המצולות והענקיים – חסרי רגישות ייחודית ולרבים מהם מאות צלקות על עורם.
