🐙Common octopus
תְּמָנוּן החוף או תְּמָנוּן סְלָעִים (שם מדעי: Octopus vulgaris), הוא מין המשתייך לתמנונאים. הוא בעל שמונה זרועות ציד ארוכות השוות באורכן, שעל כל אחת מהן שתי שורות של כפתורי הצמדה. הוא בעל לסתות חומות חזקות ובלוטות רוק המפרישות חומר ארסי. הוא טורף פעיל בשעות היום, וצד דגים, סרטנאים ולפעמים גם רכיכות באמצעות קידוח חור בקונכיותיהן. בשעת סכנה הוא נוטה לברוח באמצעות זינוק-שחיה, תוך פליטת ענן דיו שחור וסמיך. עונת הרבייה היא בתחילת האביב, ונקבת תמנון החוף מטילה את הביציות שלה (בין 400-120 אלף) במים רדודים, לאורך תקופה הנמשכת כחודש. משך הדגירה על הביצים הוא 25–60 ימים, בהם הנקבה מפסיקה לאכול. רבות מהנקבות מתות לאחר הבקיעה. אורכו של תמנון החוף (כולל הזרועות) הוא 1.2 מטר אצל הנקבה, ו-1.3 מטר אצל הזכר. זהו מין שכיח, אשר נמצא באזור הכרית, החופים הסלעיים ואף בעומק הים (עד לעומק של 292 מטר). הוא נפוץ במזרח הים התיכון ובמערבו, במזרח האוקיינוס האטלנטי, בין איי בריטניה לסנגל, אנגולה ודרום אפריקה, ובמערב האוקיינוס האטלנטי, מאמריקה הצפונית עד פלורידה ואיי ברמודה.
