🐦Common Moorhen
סוּפית מצויה (שם מדעי: Gallinula chloropus) היא מין עוף מים החי באגמים ונחלים מתוקים. הסופית ניזונה מצמחים, אצות, זרעים וחלזונות. נחשבת למומחית בהסוואה ומסתתרת במהלך מרבית שעות היום בין קני סוף וסבך צומח שעל גדות נחלים. צבעה העיקרי הוא שחור, אך מקרוב ניתן לראות שהוא לא מוחלט, אלא בעל גוונים של אפור וחום כהים. מעל המקור ישנו פס אדום, ובקצה הכנף פס לבן קטן, מקורה הוא כשל תרנגולת. גודלה הוא 32–35 ס"מ, מוטת כנפיה היא 54–62 ס"מ ומשקלה קל יחסית כ-310–456 גרם. זכר הסופית גדול במקצת מן הנקבה, ואין הבדל בצבעים. תקופת ההזדווגות של הסופית היא בקיץ, ובכל פעם הנקבה מטילה כ8-5 ביצים. כאשר האפרוח בוקע הוא עם עיניים פקוחות לחלוטין ופלומה קטנה, אך לא על ראשו וכנפיו. בפארקים באנגליה נצפתה תופעה מעניינת של "טפילות תוך מינית" במין זה, כאשר כ-10% מקיני הסופיות מכילים גם ביצים שהוטלו שם על ידי פרטים אחרים כאשר הזוג המקנן לא היה במקום.
