🐾Chinese pangolin
הפנגולין הסיני (שם מדעי: Manis pentadactyla) הוא יונק ממשפחת הפנגולנאים הנפוץ במזרח אסיה: בצפון הודו, נפאל, בהוטן, בנגלדש, מיאנמר, צפון לאוס וצפון וייטנאם, רוב שטחה של טאיוואן, צפון תאילנד ודרום סין, כולל איי האינאן. הפנגולין הסיני מתאפיין בטפרים ארוכים וחזקים לקריעת קיני טרמיטים ונמלים, קשקשי קרטין קשים בדומה לכל הפנגולינאים, ולשון ארוכה, דקה ודביקה, המשמשת לתפיסת טרפו. אין לו שיניים. הוא נבדל משאר מיני הפנגולין בקשקשיו הקטנים, בקשקשים שעל ראשו, ובחוסר הכריות בכפות רגליו. הפנגולין פעיל בלילה. המין ניצוד על ידי האדם בגלל בשרו, הנחשב למעדן, ובגלל עורו וקשקשיו אשר משמשים ברפואה סינית מסורתית. מחירי איברי הפנגולין גבוהים בשוק הבינלאומי, ונראה כי המסחר בהם גדל, למרות חוקים שנועדו להגן על המין ברוב מדינות תפוצתו.
