🪲Forficula auricularia
Isopihtihäntä (Forficula auricularia) on kaikkiruokainen hyönteinen. Isopihtihäntä on 1–2 senttiä pitkä ja väriltään kastanjanruskea. Jalat kellertävät. Takaruumiin kärjessä olevat pihdit ovat koirailla kaarevat ja naarailla suorat. Isopihtihännällä on lyhyet etusiivet, joiden alla näkyy hieman takasiipiä. Suomessa se esiintyy pääosin Etelä-Suomessa. Keski-Suomessa se on harvinaisempi. Isopihtihäntää tavataan puutarhoissa, puistoissa, pientareilla ja metsissä. Isopihtihäntä käyttää pihtejä puolustautumiseen ja lenninsiipien taitteluun lennon jälkeen. Isopihtihäntänaaraat suojelevat poikasiaan jonkin aikaa niiden kuoriuduttua.
