Anguilla anguilla (Linnaeus, 1758)

Ankerias (Anguilla anguilla) on ankeriaiden (Anguillidae) heimoon kuuluva käärmemäinen kalalaji. Ankerias on katadrominen vaelluskala, eli se viettää pääosan elämästään makeavetisissä sisävesissä mutta vaeltaa suolaisiin merivesiin kutemaan. Ankeriaat kutevat Sargassomerellä ja elävät luontaisesti Euroopan ja Pohjois-Afrikan joissa. Uusien, jokivesiin vaeltavien ankeriaiden määrä on pudonnut sadasosaan 1980-lukua edeltävältä tasolta, ja nykyisin ankerias luokitellaan äärimmäisen uhanalaiseksi.
