Paraponera clavata (Fabricius, 1775)

Luotimuurahainen (Paraponera clavata) on muurahaisten (Formicidae) heimoon kuuluva hyönteislaji. Se on kooltaan jopa kaksi senttimetriä ja on yksi maailman suurimmista muurahaislajeista. Luotimuurahainen tunnetaan myös kivuliaista pistoksistaan, joista aiheutuva aaltomainen kipu voi kestää vuorokauden ja aiheuttaa muun muassa hikoilua, vapinaa ja hallusinaatioita. Näitä muurahaisia tavataan luonnonvaraisena Etelä-Amerikassa enimmäkseen Nicaraguan, Hondurasin ja Paraguayn sademetsissä.
