MEAN velocity over the full 100 m: 100/9.58 = 10.44 m/s. Peak instantaneous velocity during that run was higher. An elite sprinter, not a typical adult.

Species-level value synthesised as the mean of: female, male.
By sex
- Male909 NWaltimo & Kononen 1995, Acta Odontol Scand 53(4):254MEASURED maximum voluntary bite at the MOLAR, n=56 men, SD 177 N. Incisal bite in the same study is 382 N -- about half -- which is why bite position has to travel with the number. Finite-element modelling of a human skull gives a higher 1109-1317 N at the second molar (Wroe et al. 2010, Proc R Soc B 277:3579): models estimate the physiological ceiling, voluntary clenching does not reach it.
- Female777 NWaltimo & Kononen 1995, Acta Odontol Scand 53(4):254MEASURED maximum voluntary bite at the MOLAR, n=73 women, SD 168 N. Incisal bite in the same study is 325 N.
