🐾Indian pangolin
البنغول الهندي (اللاتينية: Manis crassicaudata)، المعروف أيضًا باسم البنغول ذي الذيل السميك وآكل النمل الحرشفي ، هو نوع من البنغول موطنه شبه القارة الهندية . وكغيره من أنواع البنغول، يتميز بجسمه المغطى بحراشف كبيرة متداخلة تعمل كدرع واقٍ . ويتغير لون حراشفه تبعًا للون التربة المحيطة به. كما يمكنه الإلتفاف على نفسه على شكل كرة للدفاع عن نفسه ضد الحيوانات المفترسة كالنمر . وهو حيوان حشري يتغذى على النمل الأبيض والنمل ، ويستخرجها من التلال وجذوع الأشجار باستخدام مخالبه الطويلة التي تضاهي طول أطرافه الأمامية. وهو حيوان ليلي ويقضي النهار في جحور عميقة. لا يُعدّ هذا النوع شائعاً في أي مكان ضمن نطاق انتشاره، فهو يختبئ معظم النهار ،وهو مهدد بالصيد للحصول على لحمه وأجزاء مختلفة من جسمه المستخدمة في الطب التقليدي.
