🪱Common starfish
نجم البحر الشائع أو نجم البحر السكري (الاسم العلمي: Asterias rubens) هو أكثر أنواع نجم البحر شيوعًا في شمال شرق المحيط الأطلسي. ينتمي إلى عائلة نجميات البحر (الاسم العلمي: Asteriidae)، وله خمسة أذرع، ويتراوح قطره عادةً بين 10 و30 سم، مع وجود عينات أكبر حجمًا (تصل إلى 52 سم). يتميز نجم البحر الشائع بلونه البرتقالي أو البني، وأحيانًا البنفسجي؛ أما العينات التي تعيش في المياه العميقة فتكون باهتة اللون. يتواجد نجم البحر الشائع على الركائز الصخرية والحصوية، حيث يتغذى على الرخويات واللافقاريات القاعية الأخرى.
